Welcome back! Read around of members drafts and discussion about recent writing experiences.

​Poetry focus.  Members are invited to share favourite published poems with the group for discussion.  This will be followed by a writing session inspired by a line from a lesser-known poem chosen by the group as the beginning or some component for their own writing.

Guest Speaker: Sue Nelson, Boffin Media. Award-winning journalist and published author on the creative aspects of journalism and the benefits of writing for different media.​

Discuss and set the Short Fiction (500 word) competition.

​Guest TBC: Writing for stage performance.  This is planned to stimulate ideas and provide inspiration and guidance for our playwriting exercise scheduled for later in the programme.

Discuss and set the Annual Writing competition, with Prose (1500 word limit) and poetry (40 lines).

Would I Lie To You?  An exercise with 3 pre-prepared short pieces about the author (2-3 sentences only), 2 fiction, 1 fact - spot the fact.

Discuss and set the Playwriting Exercise: 1 Scene, max. 4 Characters.

Genre focus: A discussion about differences and contrasts when writing in different genres, with a focus on a particular genre TBD, eg Science fiction, adventure, romance, horror, mystery/crime, journalism etc.

Flash Fiction (150 word) competition results and discussion.

Guest judge, with feedback, advice and the results of the Annual Writing competition, with Prose (1500 word limit) and poetry (40 lines).

Photo / Picture prompt writing session.  A fun writing exercise inspired by an image.  Discussion on methods to create a narrative from an image, followed by a writing session and review.​

2027 AGM.  Review of the year by the chairman, with feedback from members.

Brainstorm for next years' 2027-2028 programme.

Read around and refreshments.
